TCC and the leading players in the tobacco industry held a seminar at Sun ‘n’ Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi which started on Sunday, 9th September 2013 through to Tuesday, 11th September 2013. The seminar kicked off at 18:00hrs local time with keynote address by the Guest of Honor, Dr. James Munthali, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. Among the invited were tobacco buying companies, traders, government representatives, African regional partners and many more with interests in the sector. Each year TCC organizes a seminar that acts as a feedback mechanism to all stakeholders in the industry and also serves as an open forum to discuss and work out resolutions to the issues that the tobacco industry is currently facing.
The theme of the seminar was “Moving towards Industry Sustainability”. “We are proud to be hosting a seminar where participants are given an opportunity to present their concerns to the Tobacco Control Commission as Malawis’ Tobacco Industry regulatory body” said Dr. Bruce Munthali, CEO of Tobacco Control Commission.
